VIDEO: Vehicle Inferno on San Angelo's Loop 306
SAN ANGELO, TX — A vehicle that looked like an SUV was ablaze on Loop 306 early Thursday morning. In the reader-supplied cell phone video, you can see police and fire department units responding.

Police haven’t issued a report on the incident yet, but reader Matt Griffin saw the initial vehicle crash scene and subsequent smoke as he drove by the College Hills exit on Loop 306 just before 5 a.m. Griffin said he called 9-1-1 at 5:02 a.m. according to his phone. We circled back his big rig around to see if he could offer assistance. “When I called it in it was just smoking, drove by about 10 minutes later and saw the flames,” he said.
Griffin said he saw a man and a small child who looked like a girl safely escape from the vehicle inferno.
San Angelo police said information may be available this morning about the exact circumstances of the incident.
Update 2:30 p.m.
San Angelo police confirm they were dispatched to the 3300 block of W. Loop 306 in the eastbound lanes at 4:59 a.m. for a vehicle fire this morning. According to police, it was a 2002 Mitsubishi SUV.
