A Failure to Yield Causes Pregnant Woman's Trip to Hospital

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - At around 5:45 p.m. this afternoon, the San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to a major crash at the corner of Washington and South Chadbourne involving two cars and a pregnant woman.

San Angelo Police Officer Bryan Bylsma stated the driver of a 2013 Ford Focus was driving westbound on Washington and failed to yield at a stop sign, although, according to the female driver, she came to a complete stop. She then attempted to cross the road and was struck by a maroon 2008 Mercury Mountaineer traveling northbound on S. Chadbourne on the inside lane.

The Ford Focus had one occupant while the Mercury Mountaineer had four, including three juveniles.

The driver of the Ford Focus was extracted from the vehicle and sent to a nearby hospital for unknown injuries. The pregnant driver of the Mercury Mountaineer suffered injures to her abdominal area, and according to Officer Bylsma, will be going to the hospital via private vehicle. 

The driver of the Ford Focus will be issued a citation for failure to yield a right of way at a stop sign, as well as driving with an invalid driver's license.
