Abilene Police Chief Scolds Citizens for Excessive Crashes

ABILENE, TX - Today, the Abilene Police scolded citizens on excessive crashes, proving that San Angelo is not the only West Texas city facing this issue.

This morning, Abilene Police worked 10 crashes between 6 a.m. and 9:40 a.m., a fact that prompted Police Chief Stan Standridge to post on social media.

“Driving is the most dangerous thing you will do today, so do it well,” Standridge posted on his department's Twitter feed.

Later, Standridge said the crashes weren’t the result of “one specific reason, other than drivers are not paying enough attention to prevent these crashes.”

“We are consuming tremendous police resources on these crashes, and most, if not all, are avoidable!” Standridge said in an email to a local news source in Abilene.
