GMC Pickup Driver Plows Through Yard Into House to Avoid a Ford

A driver of a Ford blew through the intersection of Spaulding and Emerson early Saturday afternoon, forcing the driver of a gold, older model GMC Sonoma pickup traveling north through that intersection at the same instance to run through a residential lawn and into a house.

According to San Angelo police, the Ford was traveling west on Spaulding and a northbound GMC was also approaching the intersection on Emerson. To avoid the Ford, the GMC driver ended up in the lawn, clipped a utility pole, and then struck the corner of the home on the northwest corner lot of the intersection of Spaulding and N. Emerson.

An alert SAPD officer came up on the scene just after it happened. In a few frantic seconds over the radio, the officer described an injured man who was not moving. When we arrived at the scene, police said the driver of the GMC was transported to Shannon Medical Center with minor injuries.

Citations are pending the outcome of the traffic investigation.

The GMC was moved close to the utility pole before these pictures were taken. The crash happened at approximately 12:50 p.m.
