A Faulty Lane Change on Houston Harte Causes Rollover Crash

Westbound traffic on the Houston Harte under the Van Buren Street bridge came to a slow this afternoon after two vehicles collided, and one rolled over.

At about 12:09 p.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, officers talked to the two drivers involved in the crash, an 18-year-old driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and a 28-year-old female driver of a 2000 Toyota Yaris.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, said the investigator of the crash has to do more “computing” to determine what actually took place.

“Their stories are kind of similar, but not 100 percent on track with one another,” explained Gonzalez.

She said it appears the driver of the Chevy made an unsafe lane change, which caused the driver of the Toyota to take faulty “evasive action.”

At some point, the two vehicles collided and the driver of the Chevy rear ended the Toyota, which caused the woman to spin out of control. Both drivers went off into the barrow ditch; however, the driver of the Toyota was able to drive her vehicle away. It wasn’t damaged enough to be towed.

The driver of the Chevy rolled his vehicle into the barrow ditch, which caused quite a bit of damage, said Gonzalez.

Citations are pending investigation, and there are no injuries.

It should be called the autobahn. People go as fast as 90 out there. I've lived in San Angelo 6 years and NEVER seen anyone get a ticket on the xprssway. There is no fear, put the pedal down.

I've lived in San Angelo 10 years and I've never seen anyone ticketed for a moving violation, or obey basic laws of the road anywhere in town. That's why San Angelo is full of terrible drivers; they know they'll get away with it. 90 on the loop is the average speed on the loop, 65 through an active school zone is the average on the streets.

I've lived in San Angelo for over 30 years... Irrelevant.

I've personally witnessed multiple speed traps conducted on Loop 306 and seen officers parked in different inconspicuous locations radaring people countless times. One or both of these morons (admittedly speculation) wreaked havoc on the Loop and you people are foaming at the mouth to blame someone that wasn't even there. I love it.
