An 18-year-old San Angelo woman is in an intensive care unit at an area hospital after a high-speed crash in the south part of the city.
According to San Angelo police, at approximately 3:30 p.m. today, police and San Angelo Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 5300 block of Foster Rd. for a major two-vehicle crash with entrapment.
Once on scene, first responders located a collision between a white 2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with entrapped occupants and a City of San Angelo Stormwater Department truck that was flipped over and resting on its roof.
The Camaro’s occupants were extricated from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital with incapacitating injuries.
The Camaro’s driver, 18-year-old McKenna Bowie, remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit. The Camaro’s passenger, 16-year-old Austin Weeds, underwent emergency surgery and remains hospitalized. His current condition is unknown.
The driver of the City-owned vehicle, 29-year-old Ezra Ramirez, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Department’s Traffic Section responded to the scene along with Crime Scene Technicians.
A preliminary crash investigation showed the Camaro was traveling northbound on Foster Rd. towards Loop 306 at a high rate of speed when it lost control and went into a broadside skid before the collision. The City truck had been traveling south on Foster road when Ramirez reportedly noticed the Camaro coming towards him.
Ramirez attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid the Camaro and collided head-on into the Camaro’s passenger side door. The force of the collision caused the truck to flip over and come to a rest on its roof.
The Department issued a Nixle alert warning drivers to avoid the area and traffic was blocked for several hours during the investigation.

PermalinkThe article clearly states the driver of the camaro was speeding. That being said, this honestly could have been avoided. There isn't anything rude about the truth. Let's not be naive and avoid the facts. If you're going to bring up her life, what about the passenger that was seriously injured? Or the driver of the 2nd vehicle? They both have families and are someone's daughter son friend Ect Ect.

Where's your compassion? How about, "I hope the dumb teenager gets better." Young and dumb can't be separated -- we all know that. Its in teenage DNA. OF COURSE it could have been avoided. So can Type 2 diabetes for most, but they keep up a stupid lifestyle and bang. Before you scream about your teenager or yourselves being perfect, stop and reflect on all the crap in your life you've caused, that could have been avoided. As to stating the truth, if you're ugly, you'd not like me to tell everyone you're ugly. While the truth, it is rude. Again, act human when you comment on kids... off my stump now.

PermalinkRead it again, I never called anyone dumb. I said a "dumb decision" because that's what it was, a decision. She chose to drive that fast with little experience, it was not thrust upon her. Of course I feel bad for her and her family but the fact is she made a bad choice. I would say the same thing about a person twice or three times her age.

PermalinkI just said Please be NICE. Why do people have to be mean? If that makes me naive, then I guess I am. I thought if the shoe was on the other foot and this was possible your child, would you want people to post negative comments? Why can't a simple Praying for these people be enough? Think we all made dumb decisions (at 18 tons) in our lives, that's a given. I read article too, I can clearly see who is at fault. Just asking for people to be NICE. How can we raise a generation to be nice, when soooo many can not practice what they preach?
