Vehicle Crash in Eastland County Leaves One Driver Dead

A 50-year-old Irving man died Friday morning after a four-vehicle crash in Eastland County on US 183, 7.5 miles south of Cisco, said a Department of Public Safety press release Monday.

According to the release, Jose R. Valdez was driving south in his 2013 Toyota Tacoma on US 183 when he was struck by a 2012 Kenworth Truck Tractor towing a 2016 Wabash Trailer driven by Veer Singh Mand, 63, of Modesto California.

At the same time, George Richard Brann, 46, of Brownwood was also traveling south on US 183 behind Valdez and swerved into the east barrow ditch to avoid the collision. He was struck by the front axle of the truck tractor. Additionally, Charles John Oliver, 33, of Wylie was traveling north on US 183 behind the truck tractor, and he too swerved into the east barrow ditch where the front axle of the vehicle struck him.

Mand, Brann and Oliver reported no injuries at the scene, but Valdez was declared deceased. DPS stated the weather conditions were wet, and the speed limit posted was 75 mph. All drivers wore their seatbelts.

At this time, the crash is under investigation.
