Driver Flees on Foot Through Southland After Ramming into Parked Escalade

Police are investigating why the driver of a bright orange Chevrolet pickup ran into a parked black Cadillac Escalade in the 3200 block of Rock Brook Drive in Southland.

According to witnesses at the scene, the driver of the orange pickup exited the truck and had a significant laceration on his head. They were attempting to calm the driver when police lights rounded a corner.

That is when the driver took off on foot leading to a short manhunt in Southland.

We believe the police apprehended the driver a few blocks from the scene, but await official confirmation.

Update 10:24 p.m.

The orange pickup was travelling towards Southwest Blvd. on Rock Brook Drive when it rammed into the back of the Escalade.

The driver fled the scene on foot but was quickly caught. Police said the driver admitted to being intoxicated on “something.” The driver was transported to Shannon Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. Police said they believe the apprehended driver was the only occupant of the orange truck and the Escalade was not occupied.

Citations are pending the outcome of the investigation, some of which has moved to Shannon.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. Monday night.
