Glazer's Employee Killed in Fatal Crash

 

One man has died and another was sent to the hospital in a fatal crash just outside Sterling City on US 87, where a Glazer's Distributing truck slid off the roadway and rolled early this morning.

An investigator with the Texas Department of Public Safety stated that the box truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover and was hit by the turning truck. He has been identified as 34-year-old Randy B. Cotter, of San Angelo. Next of kin has been notified. 

The passenger, 27-year-old Joe Floyd Ramirez, was transported to a hospital. His condition has not been relayed.

The call came in at 5:47 a.m., Trooper Hohertz said, and emergency personnel responded immediately. Ramirez was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.

Update 8:44 p.m.

The Texas DPS released the findings of the investigation. According to the report, the 2015 International Cub Cadet Truck with a driver and passenger was traveling northbound on U.S. 87 at approximately 5:47 p.m. DPS said the  day trip was from San Angelo to Midland. About five miles south of Sterling City, the driver lost control causing the truck to spin clockwise sliding broadside off the east side of the roadway. The truck then struck a concrete culvert causing it to roll over onto its left side coming to rest facing east.

The driver of the truck was ejected from the truck died as a result of the crash.

The passenger, Joe F. Ramirez, 27, of San Angelo was wearing a seatbelt but sustained minor injuries. DPS said he was transported to Shannon Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries.
