Man Injured in Major Motorcycle and Truck Collision

A major motor vehicle accident involving a white Ford F-150 and a motorcycle at the intersection of Knickerbocker and Commerce Streets has one southbound lane and two northbound lanes completely shut down.

The rider of the motorcycle, a male, is lying in the street being treated by medics, who have a gurney nearby.

The severity of the injuries has not yet been relayed.

Update 8:14 p.m.

The motorcyclist has been loaded into an ambulance on a gurney. He's lucid and was able to communicate with first responders.

The driver of the F-150, an elderly gentleman, suffered no injuries in the crash. The motorcyclist appears to have crashed into the passenger side of the truck.

The driver of the truck said the crash occurred when he was turning left onto Commerce on his way to Little Ceasar's. He says he doesn't think he wants any pizza any more.

Update 9:08 p.m.

Sergeant Cade Solsbery said that the motorcyclist was transported to Community Medical Center with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

He confirmed the crash occurred when the driver of the F-150 turned left onto Commerce from Knickerbocker, however who had the green light is still under investigation.

The motorcyclist, who was northbound on Knickerbocker, managed to lay down his bike before colliding with the truck.

No citations have been issued, however one of the drivers may be cited as the investigation develops.

Another person maimed by an elderly driver that should have already had the license suspended at 70 years old. If he wanted pizza, Pizza Hut & Dominoes delivers.....
Just because you are 70 doesn't mean you are an elderly driver who needs to lose your drivers license. Vehicles and motorcycles wreck all the time and typically it's because the driver does not see the the motorcycle or do not see them until it's to late!
Go back on your meds! Be sure u take the one that's for growing up. Your comment was that of a total dummy in which u fit that build.
The article says the investigation is on going. They don't know who had the green light. The driver of the motorcycle could have been at fault yet ding bat is assuming it was the driver of the truck because he is 70 years old.

I am not 70 years old yet but close. Over the years, while driving on the roadways, I have had several close calls with Motorcycles due to them being in my blind spot, etc. Motorcycles are very difficult to see day and night. My young nephew was recently killed while riding his motorcycle on a rural road in Texas. It was a clear day, no traffic, and a driver turned left into her driveway, right into his pathway. She didn't see him. She was not elderly either. Accidents happen, only God knows the reason.
I've ridden since 81. As i tell all new riders, it's not if but when you get in an accident. Clueless drivers came in all ages but at least old ones don't ride your butt. Some of those clueless drivers also come on two wheels.
