Sebring Collides With Train Near 12 Mile Bridge

A Chrysler Sebring has collided with a train on a dirt road about a half mile east of 12 Mile bridge, on the road to Cousin's Ranch, south of 67.

The Sebring hit on the driver's side fender and both airbags were deployed. Witnesses say that the impact spun the car around 180 degrees. The vehicle is facing south on the south side of the train tracks.

No major injuries have been reported. Residents in the area have come out to view the situation and are complaining that the trains frequently pass through at high speeds.

The railroad crossing is completely unmarked--there are no lights or signs. The train continued on for approximately 1/8 of a mile before stopping near the next crossing.

TXDPS, the San Angelo Fire Department and Tom Green County Sheriff's Office are working the scene.

Update: 10:15 p.m.

The driver of the Sebring is a male who works for Sotex, located south of the railroad tracks. The man was leaving work heading northbound when he got clipped by the train. He says he did not see the train coming.

Of course they pass through at a high rate of speed...such is life out in the county. Those RR cross bucks sign mean stop, not fly across and hope a train its not coming.
to respond to the above, why? the newspaper is just trying to sell papers. They don't bother with good stories like these because the paper thinks they will be old news and uninteresting after printing deadlines delay the stories from being delivered to your doorstep for many hours or a day or more. that is why newspaper is a dying news form. Local tv news is similar it takes a while to get a crew out to a site to cover a news story, then edit it for broadcast, and finally you have to wait for 6pm or 10pm to see the story. That is why sanangelolive.com is great, its the fastest way to get the news and the coverage is uber fresh.
Hey all you rich people who drive from the oil fields back in forth everyday, the price of gasoline went up $0.12 from $3.27 to $3.39. Probably didn't know that just two days ago the price dropped $0.02. It seems that whenever there is a crisis somewhere in the world the price of fuel jumps! Maybe when the price gets up around $3.75 you might take note, but by then it won't matter.
We're more concerned about that big cut of TAXES we see going up out of our HARD EARNED checks than the few pennies on fuel that we nor you have any control over!
Ugh! how come there is no one to rant at about the yo yo effect of gasoline cost? It would be nice that someone would hand out a list of suppliers emails that we could express our frustration at. Also why is it that there isn't really any other major gas stations other than Alon. Have you ever noticed that on College Hills Blvd., there are 3 Alon stations and the price can vary as much as 10-15 cents per gallon.
