Weather Update from Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Mild

A heavy fog has settled over the city, and with last week's ice still thawing, many are curious as to how the weather is supposed to continue. After speaking to the National Weather Service, Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Mild has issued an update.

"I spoke to the folks at the National Weather Service about the current and projected weather for this afternoon and tonight. They stated they are not showing any appreciable accumulations of moisture, Mild said.

"However, with the dropping temperatures, anywhere that does have moisture on the roads will possibly freeze overnight. Special attention should be paid to bridges and overpasses for patches of ice.

"While I was at the weather bureau, the Texas Department of Transporation called and stated it is preparing to do some pre-emptive bridge preparations in the event the freezing does occur," Mild continued. "This will not have as widespread and major an impact on our roadways as we have had the last few days, but all drivers must use caution, as the roads may start getting slick around the time everyone heads home from work.

"The weather service is preparing to issue a winter weather advisory."
