Morning Accident Shuts Down Sherwood Way in San Angelo

 

At 8:13 a.m. December 3, 2013, police responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Sunset Dr. and Sherwood Way. The wreck involved a 2002 maroon Buick Century and a 2002 white GMC Sierra.

According to the officer at the scene the GMC was facing east on Sherwood Way, stopped at a red light, when the Buick ran into it from behind.

The driver of the Buick, San Angelo resident Timothy Michael Allen claimed to have blacked out before the accident. He was sent to Shannon Medical Center with unknown injuries. The driver of the GMC refused medical treatment at the scene.

This was the 2,998th vehicle accident for year to which the San Angelo Police Department has been dispatched, not including accidents on private property such as parking lots. 

Timothy Michael Allen will be cited for Failure to Control Speed, Insurance Violation, and Driving While License Invalid.

SAPD issued a traffic advisory to avoid the intersection. However, traffic flow was retored within 20 minutes of the accident.
