Fence Foils Escape Plans

Just before midnight on Oct. 30, fences around the ASU LeGrande Multi-Sports Complex got more attention than they ever wanted.

Officer M. Webber noticed a driver behaving recklessly in the Twin Peaks parking lot, clearly not happy with, or entirely too happy with his services at the restaurant, before continuing his reckless drive onto Knickerbocker.

The driver was pulled over in the Rosa’s parking lot by Officer Webber and assisting Officer Roebuck, and proceeded to lie about his name.

The man, later identified as 34-year-old Eric Hernandez, fled on foot, and hopped the fence into the sports complex.

Not to be outdone, the SAPD brought out the big dogs, the K9 unit, to assist in the search.

However, Hernandez’s dreams of escaping the police were foiled by the very fence he used to flee custody in the first place and Officer Roebuck took him down.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass, Failure to Identify as a Fugitive/Providing False Information, Evading Arrest/Detention on Foot, and an outstanding County Warrant for Felony Theft of Property.

He was given verbal warnings for the traffic offenses and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
