.The change requires all breeder deer to be ante-mortem (live-animal) tested for CWD (with a test result of “Not Detected”) before transferring to another deer breeding facility or release site. These changes will be in effect for 120 days but may be extended an additional 60 days.
The passage of this legislative package represents a significant victory for the taxpayers of rural West Texas and the Concho Valley, who are seeing their income continually bludgeoned by skyrocketing property taxes.
The package includes a $5.3 billion expansion of the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000 and a temporary 20% cap on appraisal increases for properties valued at $5 million or lower that aren’t considered homesteads.
