The Concho Pearl Icehouse Closes Doors for Remodeling

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Concho Pearl Icehouse closed the doors last Friday and we wanted to know why.

When asked about closing, owner John Young said, “Yes… but we are resetting the menu and reworking the interior and patio. We have got to stay relevant. We have had a lot of competition that sells the same menu we had when we started.”

The Pearl was known best for the Texas-style smokehouse barbecue and their entertaining atmosphere. The classic American Icehouse was the place to go for sizzling smokehouse aroma, live music, and the cold drinks. The craft beer selection at the bar was formidable.

“Frankly, we have divided our market share and there is just not enough left of the pie. We feel it is necessary to reset everything we do. We have always been trendsetters and its time to get out in front again,” said Young.

Though it is not a normal course of action for a restaurant to close and reopen with the same owners and a different name, Young believes it might be the best course of action for them.

“Our food was no longer unique and our service was not exceptional. We plan on fixing those things. We still have a great space but uniqueness and relevance needs to be put back into our space,” said Young.

When will The Pearl re-open? There is a Four Course Dinner scheduled for Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. You can RSVP here
