4 Years Later... No one is Thinking Arby's
SAN ANGELO, TX — The former Arby’s building on Knickerbocker Rd. remains empty despite being located on a major thoroughfare. Now it features a brand new, repaved parking lot.
The space was occupied by Arby’s from 1993 to 2013, and today Arby’s continues to pay the lease on the building but the restaurant is closed, according to sources. According to LoopNet, similar spaces in the surrounding area are leasing for about $15 per square foot per year, so, for the past four years, all that 2,400-square-foot building has done is cost the company serious cash.
Recently, construction workers were seen paving the parking lot and cleaning areas of the outside. As a result, many individuals reached out to LIVE! with questions regarding what is in store for the old Arby's building's future. According to the City of San Angelo, no new permits for that building were on file and no City permit is required to re-pave a parking lot. According to owners of the surrounding business and the workers themselves, the sellers are simply trying to make the property more attractive for prospective buyers.
Attempting to sell it is understandable. It has an asking price of $700,000 for a 40-year-old, 2,400 sqft building with no exterior beauty to speak of; but then again, location is everything.
