San Angelo Restaurant Association Receives Statewide Award for Spring Chicken Affair
SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Restaurant Association received statewide recognition for its charitable contributions to the San Angelo community, the Texas Restaurant Association announced last week.
“The San Angelo Restaurant Association has sponsored Spring Chicken Affair for more than 30 years, which is a community event benefitting West Texas Rehabilitation Center (WTRC) in San Angelo,” the TRA stated in a press release. “For the last 34 years, the Association has been the sole provider of green beans, condiments, and other food needs for the event, as well as many of the event day volunteers. Since 2009, more than $372,353 has been raised through the event for WTRC.”
The award is titled The Restaurant Neighbor Award. It was created 18 years ago to recognize restaurants and similar organizations for “outstanding community involvement.”
SARA will advance to nationwide competition. If they win, they will receive a prize of $10,000 to support their selected charity.
The next Spring Chicken Affair is scheduled for April 23 at the First Financial Bank, 3471 Knickerbocker Rd.
