Prize Patrol Awards over $21k in Grants to Local Teachers

 

Members of the Schools Foundation hit the road on“prize patrol” on Nov. 14, visiting 17 local SAISD campuses to distribute grant monies to educators in the annual Grants for Teachers program.

This years’ awards accounts for the largest sum in the district’s history at $21,059, disseminated among 58 teachers for various projects planned to be implemented in their classrooms.

With the help of the Schools Foundation grant money, teachers in all grade levels have found interesting and imaginative ideas for enhancing learning in core academic subjects, and the creative arts, in ways that inspire and motivate students.

Over the years, the Schools Foundation has awarded $314,459 in grants to SAISD teachers. This year’s Grants to Teachers included an increase in teacher awards as well as a higher monetary total than ever before.
