Jeep Gets Airborne in Bryant and 14th St. Crash, Passengers Hospitalized

Bryant and 14th Streets are lit up like Christmas, where emergency personnel have responded to a two-vehicle crash near RJ's Barbecue.

One of the vehicles, a black Jeep Liberty, stands in the midst of the drainage canal between the north and southbound lanes of Bryant St. Emergency personnel have removed two passengers from the Jeep, one of which was placed on a stretcher.

The other vehicle, Ford Windstar, occupies the space on 14th St. between the north and southbound lanes. As a result of the crash, the northbound turning lane on 14th is blocked by emergency vehicles, and the inside southbound turning lane on Bryant is blocked.

San Angelo Police, the San Angelo Fire Department and two medics are on scene.

Update 11:29 a.m.

Two passengers of the Jeep have been transported to the hospital via ambulance. One of the ambulance left with lights and sirens activated. Officers are currently interviewing witnesses.[[{"fid":"7502","view_mode":"default","fields":{"format":"default"},"type":"media","attributes":{}}]]

Update 11:50 a.m.

The investigating officer on scene explained that the gold 2003 Ford Windstar was southbound on Bryant and the black 2012 Jeep Liberty was eastbound on 14th St.

The Windstar ran the red light and collided with the Liberty, causing the vehicle to get airborne and land in the ditch. Two passengers of the Liberty were transported to the hospital.

The driver of the Windstar was cited for running the red light, and was not injured in the crash. The driver of the Jeep was cited for driving without a valid license.

The investigating officer estimated that it would take a while for the wrecker to extract the Jeep from the ditch.

The call came in at 11:03 a.m., and officers arrived on scene at 11:11 a.m.
