The City of San Angelo Operations Response to Storm Damage

The City is responding as rapidly as possible to storm damage. Here is an internal memo to City Council members and senior City staff from Shane Kelton, City Operations Director.

Mayor, Council Members, Daniel:
 
North and central San Angelo sustained significant storm damage last night, as did some isolated areas throughout town. City crews have been working throughout the night and will continue working throughout the day today to ensure safety hazards have been addressed and that streets are clear of large obstructions. These crews will also work Friday and through the weekend to complete the cleanup activities. Due to the extensive damage that occurred, it may be well into next week before all debris is completely removed from streets and alleys.
 
We are currently setting up two temporary debris staging areas that City crews will use to store the debris they are removing from streets, alleys and parks. These two areas will also be available to any citizen who is removing debris from their property. The first location will be at the Coliseum parking lot just north of Lake View Stadium and the second will be the large parking area at the east end of Henry O. Flipper Street next to Fort Concho.
 
Traffic Operations has also been addressing multiple issues with traffic signals and signage. Traffic signals may continue to experience some issues for the next couple of days as the detection cameras may have been blown out of alignment, which could cause issues with lights cycling properly. Please let me know if you see or hear of any of these issues. We did lose two signal poles in the downtown area last night, but hope to have those back up by the end of the day.
