Bell St. Blocked Due to Motor Vehicle Accident

An older model grey and white Ford F-150 and an F-250 work truck have collided at the intersection of Belaire Avenue and Bell Street in San Angelo.

It appears the F-250 rear-ended the F-150 at the intersection around 1:45 p.m.

The driver and passenger of the F-150 were taken by ambulances to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries..

The SAPD sent out a Nixle Alert to avoid the area, and Bell St. was down to one lane of traffic as the scene of the accident was cleared..

SAPD, EMS medics and the SAFD were at the scene.

UPDATE: 2:20 P.M.--- SAPD APO Shawn Curran said the accident occured when the older Ford driving southbound on Bell Street had slowed, nearly to a stop, to allow the car in front of them to make a left-hand turn. The driver of the F250 work truck directly behind them looked away at the wrong moment, and was unable to stop in time, according to police.

Curran reported witnesses as saying the older Ford had just started to accelerate when it was struck from behind by the work truck.

Curran said a citation was issued to the driver of the work truck for failure to control speed.
