Police Expand Concho River Search for 15-Year-Old Daniel Perez

Today, the San Angelo Police Department continued to search for 15-year-old Daniel Perez who has been missing since Monday and reported missing yesterday.

Yesterday, police conducted a ground and water search near the Irving St. bridge where Daniel was last seen.   The search continued until daylight expired and resumed this morning.

In addition to San Angelo Police Department Lake Patrol officers, officers from the Texas Game Wardens also assisted with an additional watercraft search of an expanded area along the river.

Police have not located Daniel or any evidence of his whereabouts from the ground or water search.

Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division have conducted interviews with Daniel’s acquaintances, family members and school’s faculty members.

Daniel was the subject of a Missing Endangered Juvenile Alert that was issued yesterday evening.  Daniel was last seen on April 28 at approximately 5:30 p.m. He had been missing since Monday at 5:30 p.m., by the Irving Street low water crossing.

According to SAPD Detective Sgt. Doug Thomas, Perez was with friends yesterday and refused to leave the banks of the river when his friends decided to leave. He was last seen “making his way into the water.”

Police are concerned for the safety of the juvenile because their investigation revealed that he may be under the influence of an intoxicant called K2, or synthetic marijuana.

Police are asking for assistance from the public on developing any information that could help us locate Daniel.  If you have any information about Daniel’s whereabouts, or the circumstances leading up to his disappearance, please call police at 657-4315.  To remain anonymous, call the SAPD’s 24-hour hotline at 1-855-TIPS-247.  You can also text anonymous tips, text TIP SAPD followed by your message, to 888777.
