Young Lady from Big Lake Dies After Running off US 67 and Into a Tree

A 2013 Chevrolet Impala struck a tree and killed the sole occupant, the driver, early Friday morning.

The crash occurred six miles east of Big Lake on US 67, according to the DPS.

At 5:19 a.m., DPS responded to the scene of the crash. They found that the driver of the Impala, 21-year-old Adriana Hernandez, had apparently crashed into a tree on the south side of the road.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene by Reagan County JP Patty Creeh, according to DPS.

DPS said that Hernandez worked as a security guard. There were no witnesses to the crash, but DPS said in their report that fatigue may have been a factor.

Trooper Donald Van Zandt was the investigator at the scene.

Almost every day i drive on that highway and everytime i am on that highway, i have a close call...and see them constantly people speeding and running people who drive the speed limit off the road. I am surprised there are not more wrecks reported on that highway
