A Ford F-250 Collides with a Jeep Cherokee Friday at Knickerbocker and Loop 306

 

A black F-250 and an olive-colored Jeep Cherokee were in a major traffic accident on Knickerbocker at Loop 306 Friday afternoon.

The Jeep is completely demolished and the right side of the Ford F-250 is caved in. As of 6:22 p.m., the right hand lane heading south on Knickerbocker and the northbound turning lane from Knickerbocker to west Loop 306  is blocked off. The Loop 306 access road at west Loop 306 just before Knickerbocker is blocked.

The F-250 is driving on its own power. The Jeep is getting towed.

San Angelo Fire Department is on the scene, disseminating an absorbant sand to soak up fluids leaking from the Jeep. There are no ambulances.

Investigating Officer Matt Hawthorne explains that the Jeep was heading southwest on Knickerbocker. The northwest-bound F-250 was attempting to turn left onto the Loop 306 access road. The F-250 did not yield to the Cherokee and received a citation. There was one driver in each vehicle. The driver of Jeep was taken by a friend to Community hospital, but was seen walking on her own at the crash scene. Both drivers wore seatbelts and there were no insurance problems.

The Cherokee was towed off the scene and the F-250 left under its own power.

The accident occurred at approximately 6 p.m., according to police call logs.

San Angelo Police Officer Hawthorne was the investigating officer and Officer Castro was assisting.
