Pedestrian Airlifted to Shannon After Being Hit by Motorist on U.S. 277 in Christoval

A pedestrian was struck by a passing motorist on U.S. 277 at approximately 7:30 p.m., just as the Christoval vs. TLCA boys basketball game was over. Traffic was stopped for approximately 30 minutes while Shannon’s AirMed1 helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the pedestrian to the hospital.  The accident happened near where Loop 110 intersects U.S. 277 on the north side of Christoval.

Unconfirmed reports from the radio traffic indicate that the incident was initially called in as a “hit and run.”  The Christoval Volunteer Fire Department tended to the scene.

The San Angelo Standard-Times reports that the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Department said that the details are still unclear and deputies are investigating.

No information is available about the identity or condition of the victim.

We anticipate a follow-up announcement from the Sheriff’s Department Thursday morning.

Christoval is 19.9 miles south of San Angelo, Tx.
