Meregildo Canales, 85, of San Angelo, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, Domacio and Reinolda Flores Canales on April 13, 1931 in Marlin, Texas. Meregildo entered into the state care at the age of 23. Although he was unable to speak, he communicated well with those around him. He enjoyed music, outings, eating, playing catch, and watching TV. Meregildo got great joy from playing his own version of the game, Connect Four. He was a man of routine and would quickly let others know if they disturbed his routine or his baseball cap. Meregildo will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two older brothers. Survivors include his caregiving family, Juan and Cissy Luna, Lauren Beatty, Aaron Beatty, and Olivia Luna; friend, Corinna; longtime friend, Joe; guardians, Elva Sanchez and Sylvia Eastman; longtime Service Coordinator, Judy Smith; MHMR Dayhab Service Provider, Angela Graves; as well as all of the staff of MHMR and D&S Residential Services. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
