Stabbing 'Victim' Arrested for Making False Report

 

SAN ANGELO— San Angelo Police have arrested a man who made a false report of a stabbing over Mother’s Day Weekend.

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, around 8:45 p.m., San Angelo police were dispatched to the 4500 block of South Bryant Boulevard regarding a knife attack. On scene, police quickly realized that the report of a stabbing was false and have arrested the individual who made the call.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on May 11, 2024, at approximately 8:49 p.m., San Angelo Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to a stabbing at the Red Roof Inn, located at 4205 South Bryant Boulevard.

Call notes stated the Victim, later identified as Joseph Garcia, 19, was stabbed in Room 133 and people were still in the room.

San Angelo Police Officers arrived on scene and learned that, through witnesses and video surveillance footage, evidence suggested Joseph Garcia provided a false report of an Aggravated Assault. 

Garcia was arrested for False Report and Criminal Mischief and was transported to the Tom Green County Jail on booked in on May 11, 2024. He was released on May 12, 2024, on $1,000 bond.
